What is Crowdfunding?
Crowdfunding is the financing of a new project by raising many small amounts of money from a large number of people.
Crowdfunding is suitable for any type of capital project, such as the purchase of equipment, building renovations or product design / creation.
Crowdfunding projects are either 'All or Nothing' or 'Keep it All'.
With All or Nothing crowdfunding the total amount must be raised before any credit cards are processed. With All or Nothing the project owners needs to be confident that they can reach their target.
With Keep it All crowdfunding projects, the amounts pledged at the end of the project period are processed. Keep it All, sometimes referred to as Flexible Funding, may be a safer option for most projects. The project owner needs to convince supporters of the campaign that part of the project can proceed with whatever money is raised.
Crowdfunding in Ireland is typically donation based crowdfunding or reward based crowdfunding. An Equity based crowdfunding solution is currently under review. A team of crowdfunding mentors are also available to support your project.
