The North Cork Enterprise Board in Partnership with Cork County Council will hold a seminar on Public Procurement in the Mallow GAA Complex on Tuesday 12th July. A Business Seminar in Mallow on Tuesday 12th July 2011 will explain to potential contractors and business people how to tap into the massive national and local e-tendering process. However there will be a special focus on those who may have been slow to tender, up to now, because they were unfamiliar with the ‘how to’.

Cork Chamber elected Mr John Mullins as President at the Chamber’s 192nd Annual General Meeting, held on the 9th May 2011 at the Imperial Hotel. Cork Chamber is the leading business organisation in Cork supporting and representing the interests of approximately 1,000 member businesses who employ 80,000 people in the region.

Now in its 14th year, Genesis has a record in facilitating over 180 entrepreneurs get their businesses off the ground. The real measure of its success is that more than 70% of the start-up businesses who emerged from the Genesis programme are in operation five years on, employing well over 1,200 people, in the South West of Ireland. At a time when exports have never been so important to the future of our economy, over 50% of the businesses are selling to customers in international markets. Many have become Enterprise Ireland “High Potential Start-Ups” and raised significant angel and venture capital investment.

PINC is a part-time programme for female entrepreneurs who want to take their business ideas to the next stage. The programme is run over ten weeks, part-time, allowing participants to meet their family commitments and at the same time plan and develop their ventures. The programme is run in the Rubicon Centre in Cork and the deadline for applications is the 11th March.

The commercialisation and spin-out of advanced research at UCC will create 90 new jobs in emerging Irish companies at a €2 million business incubation centre opened recently by Enterprise, Trade and Innovation Minister Batt O’Keeffe, T.D. The gatewayUCC centre will support the launch of new and knowledge intensive businesses at a highly modern facility located centrally among UCC’s research and academic community. The centre has been developed with funding from UCC and Enterprise Ireland.
