The Science Gallery on Pearse Street is becoming an enterprise hub for the day on December 9th as plans for 'Your Business Day 2011' were announced for the capital. A day-long programme of free business seminars, business mentoring clinics and exhibition displays in addition to expert advice and information is on offer at the Science Gallery on Pearse Street that day, from 9am to 5pm.

NovaUCD will showcase 15 new high-tech and knowledge-intensive ventures emerging from University College Dublin (UCD) research programmes during its annual start-up awards evening next week. Among the ventures to be showcased are AntTweeter and Phision Therapeutics. AntTweeter is developing a location-based, socially-driven question and answering service which utilises the power of twitter to disseminate questions and answers to a wide community. Phision Therapeutics has identified novel small molecule anti-angiogenic compounds that can be used as drugs to inhibit the formation of unwanted blood vessels associated with ophthalmic diseases and cancer.

Dundalk Institute of Technology, (DkIT) in collaboration with Dublin City University (DCU) is pleased to announce details of this year’s Novation Enterprise Platform Programme, (NEPP). NovaUCD, the Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre at University College Dublin, today announced strong commercialisation results for 2010 at the launch of its latest Annual Report. NovaUCD is responsible for the commercialisation of intellectual property arising from research and other knowledge-intensive activity at UCD. During 2010 UCD researchers reported 57 new invention disclosures to the University through NovaUCD.

An event co-hosted by the Irish Exporters Association, Network Ireland and the European Parliament and Commission Representations in Ireland will provide an opportunity for SME’s to learn how to expand into European markets. Starting with highlighting the pitfalls and opportunities of exporting, guests will then hear a number of success stories from entrepreneurs and how each one broke into new markets.
