Bizcamp DublinThe third Bizcamp Dublin takes place this coming Saturday (May 29, 2010) when up to 500 entrepreneurs will gather in the Guinness Storehouse for a day of networking, learning and sharing. Sponsored by Microsoft, Mason, Hayes + Curran, IBM, and Enterprise Ireland, Bizcamp Dublin is the largest event of its kind in Ireland - where those registered to attend the one-day conference also register to be its keynote speakers. Attendees will spend the day attending ‘lectures’ given by their peers on starting, managing and promoting a business. Registration fee for the event is just €5 because there really is no such thing as a free lunch!

NovaUCDSixteen new high-tech and knowledge-intensive business ventures, involving 34 individuals, have joined NovaUCD’s 2010 entrepreneurship programme. The NovaUCD 2010 Campus Company Development Programme (CCDP), which has just commenced, assists academic and research entrepreneurs at University College Dublin in bringing their innovative ideas from intellectual concepts to fully developed and sound commercial businesses. NovaUCD, the Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre, is responsible for the commercialisation of intellectual property arising from UCD research programmes.

NDRC“LaunchPad” NDRC’s “ideas to income” three month Entrepreneurial Internship Accelerator Programme – targeted at emerging start-up’s with strong academic links – concluded over the weekend with the winning project, CloudSplit, being awarded investment and continued support within the Launch Pad programme. The €24,000 continuation fund for the first prize and runner up company Point-the-Way comprises support from NDRC plus matching investment from external entrepreneurial investors who also made up the entrepreneur judging panel.

NDRCNDRC (National Digital Research Centre)  announced on the 20th April 2010 that it is seeking applications from companies and academics with project and product ideas in the digital and digital content technology space to the “Catalyser” programme- an investment programme that supports collaborative innovation and bridges the gap between research lab technologies and investor-ready product prototypes.  The project proposals should be focused in one of four primary application areas:  Education; Entertainment; Healthcare or the Environment.
