southdublincountycouncilNovember is “Business Month” at the County Library Tallaght - a new, up to the minute Business Collection is being launched, along with an exciting programme of events promoting library services to businesses - including FREE online business resources such as Lexis Nexis and Vision-Net. The launch of Business Month takes place on Thursday November 10th at 6:30pm with Mayor Caitriona Jones and guest of honour Justin Keatinge of Version 1 (www.version1.com), recently shortlisted for the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

This will be followed by a special mentoring event Check out a Champion at the County Library: Your Business, Their Knowledge. Over the course of the evening, aspiring business owners can “borrow” a Tax / Finance expert, or a Social Media expert, a Web Design expert or many others for an opportunity to gain advice and insight and a helping hand on the road to starting their own business.

Other events happening at the County Library Tallaght as part of the Business Month promotion include:

  • a Seminar for Start Ups on 23rd November at 7pm
  • Uncover Your Hidden Potential – a Life Coaching session on Saturday 26th at 11am
  • Sustainable Business – Opportunities in a New Economy, a talk by Andrea Carroll, Sustainable Business Executive with South Dublin Chamber, Tuesday 29th November at 5pm
  • Nicola Byrne, one of Ireland’s most successful entrepreneurs and founder of 11890 Directory Enquiries, will give a talk at Tallaght Stadium on 22nd November
  • All events are FREE of charge to attendees.

 

During November South Dublin Libraries are holding their second TEDxTallaght at the Victory Centre, Firhouse Road. This year’s theme is Thinking Made Visual and speakers include architect Roisin Heneghan, Lecturer at Institute of Art, Design and Technology Hilary Kenna and Magician and Mentalist Shane Gillen. This free event is booked up however you can watch videos of these inspiring talks after the event at www.tedxtallaght.com.

So whether you’re currently in business, starting your own business or just thinking about it, visit your local library during Business month where there are plenty of free resources to help you on your way. Check out a book and check out a Business Champion at the same time. You never know where it will take you.
