InterTradeIreland has announced the launch of this year’s 2011 All-Island Seedcorn Business Competition with a cash prize fund of €280,000. Each year, companies taking part in the unique competition, which mimics the real-life investment process, are mooted as the ‘ones to watch’. Liam Nellis, InterTradeIreland Chief Executive, said: “Seedcorn is the largest business competition of its kind across the island. Aside from the substantial prize fund on offer, companies taking part will join InterTradeIreland Seedcorn network – an extensive business and investment community that will help boost their profile, contacts and create potential investment opportunities.

The programme is open to all graduates operating (or wishing to operate in) in the Knowledge Based and Technology sectors or are proposing the development of a novel product or service in the sector.

The CÉIM (Commercialising Entrepreneurial Ideas and Management Development) programme 2011 is once again inviting applications from people who wish to commercialise their knowledge or technology idea and take it to the next stage. The programme begins in June 2011 and closing date for applications is 13 May 2011. It runs at the Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) and Institute of Technology, Sligo (IT Sligo) campuses.

From the 20th April, Ireland joins other E.U. countries, such as Finland, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium by offering an Enterprise Exchange Programme for new entrepreneurs. Funded by the E.U. Commission, the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs Programme enables 'new' entrepreneurs in Ireland, who are in the early stages of business development, to be matched with experienced entrepreneurs abroad.
