The Irish Venture Capital Association (IVCA) and the Monaco Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (MVCA) met at the Enterprise Ireland headquarters in Dublin on the 4th April 2011 and signed a formal partnership agreement setting out key areas where both organisations will collaborate with a view to benefiting from each others experience, capabilities and networks. This new partnership will pave the way for the sharing of investment opportunities leading to increased syndicated international VC investments.

Over 100 angel investors gathered in Dublin on the 23rd March to discuss the future of Ireland’s angel capital industry at the second annual Angel Investment Conference organised by HBAN Investor Syndicates. InterTradeIreland and Enterprise Ireland have identified the need to stimulate further seed capital from private investors hence the establishment of HBAN in 2009 which is a joint initiative between the agencies on an all-island basis.

ISME, the Irish Small & Medium Enterprises Association has called on the new Government to put late payments in commercial transactions at the top of its priorities in its first 100 day commitments. The ISME Credit Watch Survey for spring 2011, released today shows clearly that smaller enterprises are being placed under severe pressure by deliberately delayed payments. Despite persistent warnings from the Association, the previous government refused to tackle this issue, due to pressure from big business and state agencies, the main culprits in delayed payments.

Delta Partners has announced that it has made its first investment of €350,000 into Digital Mines, a new Irish cloud computing service provider, from the Bank of Ireland start-up and Emerging Sectors equity fund. The funding is part of a total investment of €750,000 into Digital Mines that includes direct investment from Enterprise Ireland and the company’s existing shareholder. This represents the first investment from the €17m Fund which was launched in December last year and is managed by Delta Partners on behalf of Bank of Ireland and Enterprise Ireland.

North-West based company Seedups recently returned from SxSW in Austin, Texas after a successful visit to the prestigious SXSW Interactive festival to launch their service to the US market. "With Ireland and Northern Ireland being in the news for the wrong reasons, it's important that not only are we open for business, we're spearheading new initiatives" said Seedups founder Michael Faulkner.
