SF LogoThe Small Firms Association (SFA) has released the findings of its Autumn Business Sentiment Survey. Commenting on the figures, SFA Acting Director, Avine McNally stated, “sentiment levels for the current business environment have improved in this quarter and markedly so when compared to this time last year, however, confidence is weak among owner-managers and there are still challenges which they face.”

County and City Enterprise BoardsThe Taoiseach, Brian Cowen TD, has announced a €3.3 million funding boost for the country’s network of county and city enterprise boards (CEBs) which will be paid out before the end of the year creating more than 450 jobs. The stimulus will be channelled through the CEBs to help new businesses get off the ground and support existing ones in creating and protecting jobs.

LIT LogoLimerick Institute of Technology (LIT), supported by Limerick Chamber of Commerce, has announced a new milestone in education and business support training in the city with the establishment of Europe’s first third‐level centre of excellence for franchise development. The National Franchise Centre, which is modelled on the existing and highly successful LEAP (Limerick Enterprise Acceleration Programme) run at LIT’s Enterprise Acceleration Centre (EAC), will offer specifically tailored six‐month training programmes to persons interested in taking up on franchise opportunities in Ireland and abroad.

Midwest Showcase 2010Midwest Showcase 2010, a combined seminar and exhibition on entrepreneurship and innovation in the Midwest which will be held at Thomond Park, Limerick on Thursday 21st October, has just been launched. This is the first year of the Midwest Showcase and is a joint collaboration of a number of Networks and support agencies expanding the Enterprise Acceleration Centre (EAC) at Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT) Showcase which has run successfully for the last 3 years.
