The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation, Batt O’Keeffe TD, announced on the 5th September a €1.4 million pilot management training fund for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) aimed at driving productivity and improving workplace skills. The move comes on foot of Forfás research for the Management Development Council, published in March, which identified areas for improvement in management practice among SMEs.

The Minister for Trade and Commerce, Billy Kelleher TD, today leads 30 top Irish firms on a week-long trade mission to Russia. The firms are from a range of sectors including engineering, construction, food and drink, education and business services. Half of them are in the information communications technology (ICT) and services sectors.

The Start and Grow Enterprise Expo, which will be held in Portlaoise on the 8th October, is aiming to provide a host of information for all who want to start their own business. As well as exhibitors from organisations which support enterprise, those attending the event in October will have a chance to hear from experts, view demonstrations and avail of individual mentoring sessions.

A day-long enterprise event in North Dublin has expanded into a free five-day event this year, due to a surge in demand for information and advice from small business owners and others thinking of setting up a business. Serial Irish entrepreneurs including Bill Cullen, Sean Gallagher and Nicola Byrne are amongst those taking part in the Fingal Enterprise Week.
Having run the event over a single day for the past four years, organisers at the Fingal Enterprise Board had to extend the event to a full week for the first time, to accommodate the unprecedented level of requests for information and supports.

The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation, Batt O'Keeffe TD, today launched a Government plan to place 50 top-level college graduates in export-led Irish firms. Graduates 4 International Growth (G4IG), developed and delivered by Enterprise Ireland in partnership with UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, will last for 18 months. Graduates will undertake an initial six-month intensive training and skills development programme in an Enterprise Ireland client firm followed by a 12-month placement in a relevant overseas market.
