Clonmel Chamber hosted representatives from the Chinese embassy to Ireland on Friday last, the 13th April, as part of the Chamber’s policy of opening new markets for member companies. The representatives from the embassy, Ms Zhang Shujing who is the Economic and Commercial Counsellor for the Embassy and Mr. Daniel Gao from the Economic and Commercial Office were given a guided tour of the Bulmers factory in Annerville and then met with the Chamber representatives for a working lunch.

Clonmel Chamber launched the County Tipperary Skillnet at an event in the Park Hotel on Thursday, the 29th March 2012. The event, attended by over thirty local businesses, was held to mark the expansion of the Southern Tipperary Skillnet into the north of the county. There has been a Skillnet network based at the Chamber since 2008 tasked with providing subsidised training to companies of all sizes in the area. Following the launch on Thursday the network will now be able to put forward the same offering to companies in all parts of the county.

We all like to see our kids doing art and drama at school. We might visit a museum on foreign travels to see Van Gogh paintings, Picasso sculptures or a fresco by de Vinci. But can the arts help a business in Ireland to survive the current economic climate? International trade figures released this week by Clonmel Chamber show a sizeable increase in exports by local companies in 2011. The jump of 32% follows a significant rise in exports in 2010.

Clonmel Chamber Chief Executive, Brian Cleary, has been elected to the board of directors of Chambers Ireland, the national body representing 57 Chambers throughout the island of Ireland. He was elected to the board by CEO's from Chambers around the country. “The Chamber movement in Ireland represents thirteen thousand companies employing approximately one million people and I am delighted that my CEO colleagues have chosen me to serve on the board of the country's largest business network” said Cleary.

Clonmel Chamber together with South East Chambers will hold a free half day Social Media Conference on Wednesday, 16th November in Waterford Institute of Technology from 8.45 am to 1.00 pm. The conference will bring together a range of social media practitioners, thought leaders and experts to help businesses use social media tools to deliver strategy and tactics leading to greater profitability and better customer engagement.

On Thursday, October 13th the Gladstone Street store will open its doors from 6 to 9pm for Chamber members and their guests to show how smart phones and tablets can assist your business. The event will provide members and guests the opportunity to ‘test drive’ the newest products from all the major manufacturers.
