Three separate Dungarvan-based enterprises were recently (Wednesday 4 May) presented with Awards in recognition of their efforts to promote Irish in their respective businesses. Lawlor’s Hotel, Printmaster and Readers’ Choice all received certificates and prizes in the form of free advertising in local newspapers, the Dungarvan Leader and the Dungarvan Observer, at an event in the Old Market House Arts Centre, Dungarvan, which was hosted by Comhlacht Forbartha na nDéise and Waterford County Council.

Waterford Chamber has launched a brand new ‘Free to Members’ seminar series dealing with six key issues facing business today. The ‘6 @ Six’ seminars are aimed at providing business support to member companies through six free 1-hour sessions all commencing at 6pm for six weeks at Waterford Chamber. The Seminar series is also open to non member companies for a fee of €5 per seminar.

The Entreprenuerial and Innovation (EI) Society has just been established at Waterford institute of Technology to support students with innovative ideas, creative minds, and entrepreneurial aspirations. A team of researchers in Waterford Institute of Technology’s TSSG (Telecommunications Software and Systems Group) has been awarded the leadership of SOCIETIES a €15.8 million EU project that may revolutionise how emergency services respond in the wake of a disaster. According to Kevin Doolin, Head of Pervasive Communications Services in TSSG, the project aims to develop new and powerful ways that organisations such as emergency services, individuals and businesses can work, communicate, and socialise.
